Self Made Mountain

For those who know the famous Self-Made Man statue created by Bobbie Carlyle, my painting articulates the concept of what it means to be self-made. Chipping away the excess bulk and waste that is holding down the best version of who that individual is. This could mean elminating bad habits, bad friends, and bad mindsets. Everything we are looking for in life is already within us. It is up to us to discover and master self to bring these qualities out of us. On the right, is Persus holding Medusa's head with pride and resilience. I think this statue is a perfect symbol of what it means to kill your former self and reinventing a new. There are versions of ourselves taht we all wish we could change or get rid of. Medousa is that version we despise.
